Spirit of Radio

"...and the words of the profits were written on the studio walls."

Well, don't know how much profit there will be but DS finally - FINALLY - got into the studio, recorded a few demos and the much anticipated original, "Don't Burn My Flag". The plan is to submit the tune into the annual Watkins Glen Raceway music contest. Eight songs will be chosen as the official soundtrack for the 2010 racing season and one band will be chosen to play at certain events. Kind of cool, eh?

A good time was had. Matt Barnes engineered the experience at the regionally renowned, "Ultimate Studios" in Cortland. (Great musician as well - makes for a better engineer.)

- Setting up and getting ready

- Karen showing her electrical & anatomical skills.

- Brian wondering why his drums sound somewhat metallic and squishy at the same time.

- Tim in the booth. Hidden away from his throngage.

- Karen in the booth. Hidden from her "special friends" from Groton.

- Mike explaining "chord thingies"

- Neil, excited as ever, thumps away

Karen and "Yoko Santos" discussing how Brian should be stage center

- Matt Barnes: Engineer par excellence - trying desperately to find the "de-suck" algorithm

- Apparently, the band has a keyboard player. Not sure who he is...sort of like the Lochness Monster, Big Foot or an honest politician - we've heard tale of him, there are some scattered drunken eye-witness accounts and an occasional grainy picture, but no proof of his existence! (If you look close you can see his droppings - Ricola wrappers!)

The Haunt

Happy Hour at the Haunt - Ithaca.

Classic place. Good sized crowd with a warm reception. Big stage that has seen the likes of many a well known band.

Several long time supporters showed as well. (Always fun to "Mingle" with the fans. :)

Hope to be back soon.

And the one pic? Just because.
